Human Security Archive

From 2006-2009, the international interdisciplinary research project HUMSEC (under the 6th EU Framework Programme Coordination Action "Integrating and Strengthening the European Research Area") established an interdisciplinary network of scientists from the European Union and the Western Balkan to analyse the link between transnational terrorist groups and criminal organisations in the Western Balkans and their role in the peace-building process in the region. Through Annual Conferences, Summer Academies, the publication of working papers, and an online journal, the project has built capacity among young professionals and political leaders on human security. Partner institutions were the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights, Max-Planck Society, Danish Centre for Human Rights, and the Universities of Graz, Tilburg, Munich, Pristina, Montenegro, Sarajevo, Shkoder, Ljubljana, Zagreg, Touluse, and Cardiff. Find the HUMSEC project summary here.

In 2003, the European Training and Research Centre for Human Rights and Democracy facilitated the adoption of the Graz Declaration on Principles of Human Rights Education and Human Security [PDF] by the Human Security Network under its Austrian chairmanship and started publishing the online journal Human Security Perspectives/HUMSEC (see below).
