70 Jahre Genfer Flüchtlingskonvention: Mittagsgespräch mit Christoph Pinter und Wolfgang Benedek

Die Genfer Flüchtlingskonvention (GFK) wurde im Jahr 1951 nach dem 2. Weltkrieg verabschiedet und feiert nun ihr 70-jähriges Jubiläum. Sie gilt als Grundpfeiler des internationalen Flüchtlingsschutzes.

Das Uni-ETC veranstaltete dazu am 6. Dezember 2021 ein Mittagsgespräch unter der Moderation von Lisa Heschl: Christoph Pinter, Leiter von UNHCR Österreich, und Wolfgang Benedek, Professor für Völkerrecht iR und ausgewiesener Experte im Bereich des Flüchtlingsrechts, stellen sich dabei große Fragen über die Zeitgemäßheit, Gültigkeit und Relevanz der GFK.

Sie sprachen u.a. über die aktuellen Entwicklungen an der Grenze zwischen Polen und Weißrussland, die Lage in Afghanistan, die anhaltende humanitäre Krise in den griechischen Flüchtlingslagern, die Externalisierungstendenzen von Flüchtlingsschutz und die Möglichkeit von legalen Wegen in die EU.

Das Mittagsgespräch wurde aufgezeichnet und kann über Unitube nachträglich angesehen werden. 

Die Veranstaltung wurde im Rahmen der Lehrveranstaltung „Einführung in das Flüchtlings- und Asylrecht: Theorie und Praxis“ abgehalten, welche das Ziel hat, Studierenden einen Einblick in das materielle Flüchtlingsrecht und die österreichischen Institutionen zu geben.
