Iran verstehen - Vortrag mit Dr. Gerhard Schweizer

Die „Islamische Republik Iran“ wird immer mehr zu einer dominierenden Regionalmacht im Vorderen Orient. Was sind die Folgen für die Weltpolitik? Bedeutet die islamistische Herrschaft eine Bedrohung für die Nachbarstaaten und erst recht für den Westen? Oder kann der Iran eine konstruktive Vermittlerrolle im explosiven Spannungsherd des Nahen Ostens einnehmen?

Der Kulturwissenschaftler Dr. Gerhard Schweizer war 1964 das erste Mal im Iran,  aktuelle Eindrücke gewann  er bei seiner letzten Reise im Herbst 2016. Er schildert, dass religiöser und kultureller Pluralismus stark an Boden gewinnen – und sich damit die Spannungen zwischen radikal-islamischen Ideologen und Reformern gefährlich zuspitzen. Und er zeigt, dass die widersprüchlich erscheinenden Umbrüche in der Gegenwart nur vor dem Hintergrund einer reichen kulturellen Tradition zu verstehen sind, die im Westen weitgehend unbekannt ist.

Eine Veranstaltung in Kooperation mit: Katholische Stadtkirche Graz, Pro Oriente, Missio, ETC Graz, Afro-Asiatisches Institut Graz, Katholisches Bildungswerk, Katholisch-Theologische Fakultät, Katholische Hochschulgemeinde.
