Der Angriff auf die Ukraine - welche Rolle spielt das Recht?

Kurzbericht zur Veranstaltung und Link zum Stream

Am Montag, dem 7. März 2022 fand – organisiert vom Zentrum für osteuropäisches Recht (ZoR) der REWI-Fakultät der Universität Graz – eine Podiumsdiskussion mit dem Titel „Der Angriff auf die Ukraine: Welche Rolle spielt das Recht?“ statt.

Unter der Moderation von ZoR-Leiter Univ.-Prof. DDr. Dr. h.c. Bernd Wieser diskutierten zu diesem Thema und den daraus resultierenden Fragen:

  • Univ.-Prof. Dr. Erika De Wet, LL.M. (Harvard) (Ordinaria für Völkerrecht an der Universität Graz und Leiterin des Instituts für Völkerrecht und Internationale Beziehungen)
  • Ao. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Gerd Oberleitner (Leiter des UNI-ETC sowie UNESCO Chair in Human Rights and Human Security)
  • Ass.-Prof. Dr. Benedikt Harzl, M.A. (Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter am Zentrum für osteuropäisches Recht sowie Institut für Völkerrecht und internationale Beziehungen)

Die Veranstaltung, die in hybrider Form stattfindend sowohl im Sitzungszimmer der Fakultät vor Ort als auch online auf reges Interesse stieß, berührte die wichtigsten Fragestellungen, die sich aus rechtlicher wie auch aus politischer Sicht mit Blick auf die Ereignisse in der Ukraine ergeben. Im Anschluss an die jeweiligen kurzen Impulsstatements der Redner*innen, die sich zu Fragen des jus ad bellum, des humanitären Völkerrechts sowie der offiziellen Begründungslinien für den Krieg äußerten, entwickelte sich in weiterer Folge eine spannende und abwechslungsreiche Diskussion, an der das Publikum sowohl online als auch vor Ort teilnehmen konnte.
