Already for the fourth time, the European Training and Research Centre for Human Rights and Democracy of the University of Graz (UNI-ETC), in cooperation with the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (EIUC), organized an interdisciplinary and international workshop for PhD students on the Lido of Venice/Italy as part of the Doctoral Programme Human Rights, Democracy, Diversity and Gender.
From May 25 to 27 2017, the workshop brought together 11 young academics and professors from different universities and disciplines. It gave participants the opportunity to present and discuss their theses, to receive qualified feedback and to enhance their presentation skills. The workshop, held in the historic Monasterio di San Nicolò, also served as a forum to exchange experiences on the PhD process, and to address methodological questions amongst each other and with Prof. Wolfgang Benedek and Prof. Gerd Oberleitner.
With participants from Austria, Ethiopia, China, Italy, Poland, USA and Macedonia, the workshop helped to create a network of young scholars from different countries by providing opportunities to interact and share experiences with fellow scholars from various disciplines, both inside and outside the classroom.
The UNI-ETC would like to express its gratitude to Prof. Peter Scherrer, Vice-Rector for Research and Junior Researchers' Promotion, whose office generously supported the workshop.
