Interdisciplinary PhD Workshop in Venice

For the second time, the European Training and Research Centre for Human Rights and Democracy of the University of Graz (UNI-ETC), in cooperation with the European Inter-University Centre on Human Rights and Democratization (EIUC), organized an Interdisciplinary PhD Workshop on Human Rights, Democracy, Diversity and Gender held at the Monastery of San Nicolò/Lido di Venezia.

 

15 PhD candidates and young researchers from Austria, Italy, Kosovo, Ethiopia, Russia, Germany, Moldova and Pakistan took part in this international workshop, which took place from 18th -19th June 2015. The participants had the chance to present their current research projects before their colleagues as well as the participating academics, Prof. Wolfgang Benedek, Head of the Institute of International Law and International Relations of the University of Graz, Austria and Head of the UNI-ETC, and Prof. Gerd Oberleitner, Associate Professor of International Law and the Law of International Organisations at the University of Graz.

 

The workshop offered a great possibility to receive profound interdisciplinary feedback which would enrich one’s own research and to gain insights into the diverse topics covered in the field of human rights, democracy and diversity. Furthermore, the students and the professors alike engaged in vivid discussions throughout the academic as well as the social program.
