The event brought together students and staff from the project’s Ukrainian partner universities. The webinar was delivered by Gregor Fischer Lessiak, a legal scientist and lecturer specialising in human rights at the University of Graz, and by Pavlo Burdiak, a media analyst at the Centre for Democracy and Rule of Law in Ukraine.
In the first part of the session, participants received an overview of the international legal framework regulating online expression, with particular attention to the European context and the application of the European Convention on Human Rights. The second part explored how hate speech and propaganda circulate on social media platforms. Participants examined practical methods for identifying such content and discussed tools that can help counter harmful online behaviour.
The webinar concluded by encouraging participants to apply the knowledge gained in their daily digital interactions and to contribute to creating a safer and more respectful online environment within their academic communities.
