International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights in Armed Conflict imparts knowledge on the legal nature of war, basics and fundamental principles of international humanitarian law (distinction, proportionality, precautionary measures), protection of civilians, status of combatants, applicability of humanitarian law in various types of armed conflict, enforcement of humanitarian law, terrorism, the law of occupation and human rights in armed conflicts. These issues are dealt with in theory and in select case studies.
