FreeAC: Webinar "Academic Writing in English"

First slide of the presentation

On May 12, 2025, the University of Graz successfully held an interactive online workshop titled "Academic Writing in English", organized within the framework of the Erasmus+ project “Promoting Academic Freedom in Ukraine (FreeAc)” (ID KA220-HED-AB735F9). The workshop was specifically designed for students from Ukrainian partner universities to enhance their academic writing skills in English and strengthen their ability to communicate research effectively.

The event attracted participation from more than 30 students of three Ukrainian partner institutions of the FreeAc project: Sumy State University, International Humanitarian University (Odesa), and Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

The workshop was led by Lisa Wurzinger, a graduate in English & American Studies and a writing consultant at the University of Graz Writing Center. With extensive experience in editing, proofreading, and translation, particularly for non-native English speakers, Lisa guided participants through key aspects of academic writing.

During the two-hour session, students explored key aspects of academic writing, such as developing clear research questions, structuring papers effectively, and building persuasive arguments. The workshop also addressed common writing challenges and provided practical strategies to overcome them.
