Utrecht Declaration on Academic Freedom (German/English)

Association of Human Rights Institutes (AHRI) - "Utrecht Declaration on Academic Freedom"

In the Declaration drafted during its annual conference, AHRI deplores the growing pressure on scientists in the form of dismissals, criminal prosecutions and physical violence occuring in many states. Referring to the 1988 Lima Declaration on Acadamic Freedom and Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education drafted by World University Service (WUS), AHRI declares its full solidarity with all affected persons and invites the international community and national authorities to take a stand against the limitation of academic freedom and to comply with their international and constitutional obligations.
