Human Rights Perspectives from Ethiopia - unter diesem Übertitel boten Sisay Mengistie Addisu, Fasil Mulatu Gessesse und Getahun Kassa, Dozenten am Zentrum für Menschenrechte der Addis Abeba Universität, Äthiopien, am 17. Mai Einblicke in ihre aktuelle Forschung. Prof. Stefan Storr, Dekan der Rechtswissenschaftlichen Fakultät, eröffnete den Vortrag und begrüßte die Gäste.
Die Diskussionsbeiträge der drei äthiopischen Forscher zur internationalen Strafjustiz und Rechenschaftspflicht für grobe Menschenrechtsverletzungen in Afrika; Rechtliche und praktische Ungewissheiten für den Schutz jugendlicher Migranten in Afrika und die Rechte von Minderheiten boten Impulse zur Diskussion über Menschenrechtsfragen in Afrika und darüber hinaus.
Die Vorlesung war Teil einer vierwöchigen Forschungsreise nach Graz. Die Gastwissenschaftler führten am Institut für Völkerrecht der KFU Graz und dem Europäischen Ausbildungs- und Forschungszentrum für Menschenrechte und Demokratie der Universität Graz (UNI-ETC), forschten an der Universitätsbibliothek und etablierten Kontakte zum wissenschaftlichen Personal der Universität.
Der Forschungsaufenthalt war Teil des AAPLHRE (Advanced Academic Partnership for Legal and Human Rights Education) - Projekt. Das Projekt wird gefördert von APPEAR, einem Programm der Austrian Development Agency (ADA).
