Kick-off-meeting of new HERAS project took place!

On 23 November 2021, the kick-off meeting of the project “Building a post-war justice system in Kosovo: The independence, impartiality, fairness and accountability of the internationalized judiciary” was held online, with the participation of all consortium members.

The University of Graz's European Training and Research Center for Human Rights and Democracy (UNI-ETC), under the project coordination and management of Gerd Oberleitner, is implementing it together with the Institute for Rule of Law and Human Rights of the University of Haxhi Zeka, under the project management of Gjylbehare Murati.

This project is aimed at promoting international scientific cooperation and academic networks between Austrian researchers and Kosovan researchers in the field of post-war justice. Scientific methods and research results will be exchanged between the two universities and in particular early-stage Kosovan researchers will be supported. At the end of the project an article will be submitted for publication in an international peer-reviewed journal or edited volume. Additionally, a Regional Scientific Network for researchers on post-war justice systems coordinated by the University of Haxhi Zeka will be created to ensure a long-lasting and sustainable exchange of knowledge on questions related to rule of law principles in post-conflict societies within the region.

The project within the framework “Higher Education Research and Applied Science Plus (HERAS+)” aims at a more competitive and diversified public higher education and research sector in Kosovo.
