The European Training and Research Centre for Human Rights and Democracy of the University of Graz (Uni-ETC), Austria in cooperation with the European Inter-University Centre on Human Rights and Democratization (EIUC) organized the first Interdisciplinary PhD Workshop on Human Rights, Democracy, Diversity and Gender held at the Monastery of San Nicoló from the 10th of April – 11th of April 2014.
12 PhD candidates, coming from Austria, Kosovo, Italy, Macedonia, Hungary and Romania were given the opportunity to present their research topics in front of peers as well as academics from different faculties of the University of Graz, including Prof. Wolfgang Benedek, Head of the Institute of International Law and International Relations of the University of Graz, Austria and Head of the Uni- ETC, Prof. Gerd Oberleitner, Associate Professor of International Law and the Law of International Organisations at the University of Graz and Prof. Kurt Remele, Associate Professor of Ethics and Catholic Social Thought at the Department of Catholic Theology at University of Graz.
Due to the quality and competence of the participants, the PhD candidates gained enriching feedback on their topics. After their presentations, within this unique atmosphere, there was a possibility to engage in fruitful discussions with all the contributors throughout the workshop and in social activities.
