Die Krise der Demokratie und die Religionen

Vortrag mit Dr. Heiner Bielefeldt

Noch nie gab es weltweit so viele Länder, die sich selbst als demokratisch bezeichnen. Doch vielerorts sind die Populisten auf dem Vormarsch – von den USA über Brasilien bis nach Europa und Südostasien. Was vor einigen Jahren kaum vorstellbar schien –
die Einschränkung der Grundrechte, Bedrohung der Meinungs- und Pressefreiheit oder Eingriffe in eine unabhängige Justiz – lassen heute auch in Ländern der EU um die Demokratie fürchten. Ängste vor den anderen – Migranten, Flüchtlinge, Andersgläubige
– werden geschürt und politisch instrumentalisiert.

Welche Rolle kommt den Religionsgemeinschaften beim Erstarken von Nationalismus und Fundamentalismus zu? Inwieweit befördern sie diese Tendenzen und welchen Beitrag können sie zur Stärkung von Demokratie und Menschenrechten leisten? In seinem Vortrag spricht Univ.-Prof. Dr. Heiner Bielefeldt über diese Themen und lädt
zur Diskussion ein.

Zur Person: Univ.-Prof. Dr. Heiner Bielefeldt ist Theologe und Philosoph. Er ist Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Menschenrechte und Menschenrechtspolitik der Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg und war 2010 bis 2016 UN-Sonderberichterstatter über Religions- und Weltanschauungsfreiheit.
