Then join us at the 3rd edition of the Padova Model UPR 2020!

The Padova Model UPR is an academic simulation of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), a unique United Nations (UN) mechanism which involves a review of the human rights records of all UN Member States. By participating in this model UPR, you gain an in-depth understanding of the mechanisms and dynamics of the UPR procedure held in Geneva.
The UNI-ETC is sending motivated students to represent the University of Graz during this unique simulation. In the course "Model Universal Periodic Review" you will receive an in-depth training for the simulation, covering theoretical and practical knowledge.

The following criteria have to be met by students in order to be eligible for the Padova Model UPR:

  • interest and prior knowledge in human rights - preferably students of Political Sciences, International Relations, Social Sciences or Legal Studies
  • basic knowledge about/interest in the UPR process
  • good command of the English language (Level of English at least B2)

The University of Graz will, depending on students' interest, be able to register up to two teams, one representing a state (4-6 persons) and one representing an NGO (1-2 persons). Accordingly, a maximum of 8 persons will be enrolled in the course. These teams will then have to go through the application process of the Padova Model UPR. Herein, they will be supported by UNI-ETC staff.
