Book launch and closing event of the Advanced Academic Partnership for Legal and Human Rights Education (AAPLHRE)

Zoom meeting on the occasion of the book launch, (c) UNI-ETC

The event marks the successful completion of the Advanced Academic Partnership for Legal and Human Rights Education (AAPLHRE) between the University of Graz, the Ethiopian Civil Service University and Addis Abeba University from 2016 until 2020.

Wolfgang Benedek presented the edited volume “Implementation of International Human Rights Commitments and Implications on Ongoing Legal Reforms in Ethiopia” on 19th November 2020 via an online conference. The book addresses key themes of contemporary interest focused on identifying the gaps between Ethiopia’s human rights commitments and the practical problems associated with the realisation of human rights goals.

The project (funded by APPEAR) covers five academic core activities, which together enhanced the teaching, research, training and management skills of the partners. These activities included assistance in curriculum development; organization of joint research workshops; and organization of Human Rights Academies that focused on training of government officials and the private sector in the field of human rights. Lastly, mutual research stays were a key component of AAPLHRE.

The UNI-ETC team cordially congratulates everyone involved on a successful project completion and on the publication on the above edited volume!
